| Involvement Level | The classification of a user's involvement within a committee (e.g., Interested Party, Observer, Non-Voting Member, Voting Member). This is assigned by the Standards Committee Officers/Working Group Officers. |
| Mandatory Editorial Coordination (MEC) | A required review by IEEE SA staff to verify whether a draft standard is compliant with all legal, copyright, and other editorial matters prior to the initiation of an IEEE SA ballot |
| New Standards Committee (NesCom) | Examines Project Authorization Requests (PARs) and makes recommendations to the IEEE SA Standards Board (SASB) regarding their approval. |
